Epic trips since 1924
You're whizzing through town on a big yellow, destination Courtenay Place. All of a sudden there's a deafening crack from the rear. There's barely a stir. It's the familiar noise of a detached cable and the driver, turned mechanic, heads out into the sleety weather to play pin the cable on the wire. A few hours later you're trollied for the second time that night.
Sadly, our beloved Tolley buses will be decommissioned along with the mish mash of overhead wires. They've served us well since 1924 from South Karori to Island Bay to Seatoun but it's not a cheap thing to maintain.
Thankfully the bus service isn't going anywhere so you'll still be able to head into town on a diesel and loose your own footing if you so wish.
